# How do I appeal a decision made by the DPJ?

If you disagree with a decision made by the Director of Youth Protection (DPJ), you can appeal to the Youth Division of the Court of Québec under ss. 94–95 and 100–101 of the Youth Protection Act. This process allows the court to review whether the decision serves the child’s best interests as required by C.c.Q. art. 33. You can request suspension or modification of the DPJ’s measures, and the court can substitute its own decision after examining the evidence. Legal assistance is strongly recommended, and Legal Aid may be available.
