# How do interim measures or protective orders affect partition proceedings?

In Québec, interim measures or protective orders issued under art. 510–511 C.p.c. and art. 418–419 C.c.Q. allow courts to safeguard family assets during partition proceedings. These orders can freeze bank accounts, restrict property sales, or require disclosure of financial information to prevent one spouse from disposing of shared assets. They are often granted alongside applications for safeguard or provisional orders to ensure that the patrimony remains intact until division is finalized. The court may later adjust the partition if any assets were used or transferred in violation of these measures.
