# How long does child support last in Quebec?

In Québec, child support continues as long as the child is dependent and not yet self-sufficient. Under C.c.Q. arts. 585–587 and Divorce Act s. 15.1, support may continue beyond age 18 if the child is pursuing studies, has a disability, or still relies on parental support. The obligation ends when the child achieves financial independence or when circumstances change substantially. Parents can ask the court to review or terminate payments based on updated needs and means.
