# My kid is in college and has a job, can I stop payin child support?

Having a college-age child with a job does not automatically end your child support obligation. Under C.c.Q. arts. 585–587 and Divorce Act s. 15.1, support continues if the child is still dependent, such as while attending college or university full-time. A part-time job or modest income usually does not make the child self-sufficient. You must apply to the Superior Court for a modification, showing that the child’s income and circumstances now justify reducing or ending payments.
