**Amina Joober** is an Associate at Goldwater Droit, and her practice is anchored in youth protection and family law. She appears regularly before the Superior Court and the Youth Division of the Court of Quebec on high-conflict matters that cannot be resolved through alternative dispute resolution.

In youth protection, she handles contests of protection measures and party-status disputes, and has managed files where the expressed preferences of young or adolescent children must be weighed against parental capacity, the severity of parental conflict, and findings of psychological maltreatment. The work requires both clear-eyed legal assessment and a tolerance for hearing what children actually want and what parents can reasonably manage.

On the family side, she takes on divorce and custody disputes including such matters as contested financial disclosures, international child-travel applications, shared parenting arrangements, name-change authorizations, and disputes over school choice. She has secured provisions for costs against opposing parties, responded to applications by grandparents seeking court-ordered access against a custodial parent's wishes, and crafted sensitive graduated-access orders moving a parent from supervised visits to fuller access in line with a child’s stated preferences.

Amina is known for her directness. She tells clients what she actually thinks, and will not pick fights in court for their own sake. When a file should settle, she settles it; when it should be tried, she tries it without flinching.

She joined Goldwater Droit in 2023, after practising at several mid-sized and national firms. Before law school, she earned her BFA from Concordia University, _summa cum laude_, then completed her LL.B. at the Université de Montréal in 2015, where she was a founding member of the _Comité Femmes et Droit_. She has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 2017. She works in French, English, and some Arabic dialects, and volunteers with the elderly.

If not a lawyer, Amina would have been a crane operator. Indeed, she has a calm latent with very large forces in her hands and makes sure that the people on the ground are doing their part.
