**Samuel Boivin** is an associate at Goldwater Droit, where his practice focuses on civil litigation, primarily in family law. Recognized for his determination, tenacity, and dedication to his clients, he acts in both child custody matters and financial disputes arising from separation.

He pleads before the Superior Court of Québec, the Québec Court of Appeal, and the Court of Québec in matters involving contested custody and parental authority, child and spousal support, partition of the family patrimony, as well as cases involving allegations of family violence, parental alienation, or the need for psychosocial experts. He has secured substantial financial measures for his clients, including significant spousal support orders in favour of wives at the emergency stage. His practice has also led him to act in matters involving private international law, including the determination and application of foreign matrimonial regimes, in collaboration with business valuators, accountants, tax specialists, and other specialized experts in Québec and internationally. He has also obtained exceptional remedies before the courts, including seizures before judgment, judicial findings of fraud, and the lifting of the corporate veil to allow enforcement of a judgment against a debtor’s personal assets.

Having distinguished himself during his university studies through academic excellence, rigorous legal reasoning, and a natural aptitude for advocacy, Samuel was quickly called upon to act in complex and highly contested matters. Known for his meticulous preparation and his ability to effectively defend his clients’ interests, he regularly acts in urgent matters requiring both swift court action and careful strategic thinking. Driven by a deep concern for justice, he combines rigour, legal creativity, and determination, while remaining attentive to the human realities that define family litigation.

He holds an LL.B. from Université Laval (2021) and was called to the Québec Bar in 2022. He is also a member of the Association des avocats et avocates en droit de la famille du Québec (AAADFQ).

He practises in French and English.

Had he not chosen law, he would likely have pursued theatre. During his university studies, he was part of the Faculty of Law’s theatre troupe, an experience that helped develop qualities that now characterize his practice, including his courtroom presence, persuasive ability, and capacity to communicate effectively in demanding situations.

##### LITIGATION & PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS

- [Droit de la famille — 251013 (2025)](https://canlii.ca/t/kf31q) - Acted for the applicant wife before the Superior Court on provisional measures in a divorce, seeking spousal support and a provision for costs after a 22-year marriage spanning several countries; secured spousal support of $6,500 per month, defeating the husband's argument that support should be measured against his base salary alone by having the Court assess his global financial picture, including bonuses and his higher US after-tax income; navigated the cross-border tax treatment of support payable by a US-resident payor, with the Court accepting that the support is neither deductible to him nor taxable to the client under the Canada–US treaty, and obtained a provision for costs.
- [Droit de la famille — 25311 (2025)](https://canlii.ca/t/kb8cb) - Acted for the applicant widow before the Superior Court in proceedings for partition of the family patrimony and the community of property after the death of her estranged husband; defeated the Estate's bid to homologate an alleged out-of-court settlement, established the client as undivided co-owner of the family residence, and persuaded the Court to strip the Estate of its share of the community assets for having diverted community property; obtained judgment condemning the Estate to pay the client with interest and the additional indemnity.
- [Scutelnic c. 10069426 Canada inc. (2025)](https://canlii.ca/t/k9q89) - Acted for the plaintiff before the Court of Quebec (Civil Division) in a commercial claim to recover $63,002 paid for renovation materials that were ordered through the defendant company but never delivered; obtained judgment annulling the contract and, notably, persuaded the Court to lift the corporate veil under article 317 C.C.Q. by establishing that the company's sole shareholder and director had acted fraudulently, holding him personally and solidarily liable for the full amount with interest and the additional indemnity.
