Divorce and separation in Quebec are governed by both federal and provincial law. Under Canada’s Divorce Act, the Superior Court of Quebec has jurisdiction to grant a divorce where at least one spouse has been ordinarily resident in the province for 12 months. This legislation also sets out federal rules for parenting, child support, and spousal support after divorce.
